John is fantastic, took us to some fabulous places, would highly recommend if you don't have a lot of time in Hobart. The food, the wine, best that Tassie has to offer, do yourself a favour and choose Tasmanian Private Tours! John is a legend.

“Simply the Best! Amazing Tour for Cruise Ship Passengers!”

We took the Richmond Abalone - Oysters -Wine & Food Tour with John! In summary....Absolutely fantastic, couldn't have asked for more! I contacted John after finding this tour on his website and after trawling through all the other offerings, was delighted to have found this as it was just what we were looking for. We were arriving in Hobart on a Cruise ship for an overnight; 1 and a half days visiting Hobart with friends and our elderly Mother so looking for a tour that not only gave us a brief scenic tour of Hobart and the surrounds, but also to immerse ourselves in the very best local produce to which Hobart is renowned. John was quick to reply to my email, having 5 people I wanted to check that he could accommodate us in a larger vehicle, and that he did in a luxurious comfortable 6 Seater.

It was a breeze keeping in contact with John to organise pick up instructions/time/place etc, he met us at the cruise dock at the specified time and our first stop was Mt Wellington, then on to the Abalone Farm which is a must do, really quite amazing the popularity of this unique sea life. The tour continued on to Richmond a gorgeous historic little town where we enjoyed a coffee and was enthralled with John's fabulous commentary. We sampled some wonderful local wines, had the most amazing lunch at Coal River Farm, which, surprisingly, was the highlight for me, only surprising as I am a self confessed Oyster lover, so it was a difficult call, as our visit to Barilla Bay Oysters was equally as much the highlight! After we sampled some more local wines, John brought us back to our ship at the agreed time, which, for me being a Cruise Travel Agent, understands the need for having a reliable tour guide who will ensure you arrive back to your ship on time!

It was a fabulous day spent with John, who is a Hobart local and knows every amazing part of this quite vast city and it's surrounding area and countryside, having a background in the hospitality business, John was a complete professional, understanding our needs for everything from our morning coffee, supplying water in the car, combining the very best of the local produce and wines along with the necessary bathroom visits. His personal stories, humour, attention to detail, friendly & caring attitude absolutely made our day very special!

Thank you so much John, as promised I have been referring my Cruising customers to you, and wouldn't hesitate to recommend you to everyone who is looking to tour Hobart and environs whether it be a short day trip or for a longer tour, you are amazing!

My mother, sister and I were visiting Hobart after arriving on The Golden Princess ship from Melbourne. John was there to meet us promptly at 9am and took us on a journey for 6 delightful hours which included a trip to the top of Mt Wellington (beautiful views over Hobart), a scenic drive around the Hobart town, a stop in the character filled Richmond, a lovely lunch at Coal River Farm and a visit to Frogmore Creek Winery.
We had a truly memorable day and my mother described John as a 'true gentleman'. I highly recommend Tasmanian private tours for a tailor made adventure. Thanks John for a wonderful day.

My friend and I had an awesome day tour with John. The views and food were perfection throughout the tour. John was able to modify the tour a bit according to our preference which was much appreciated. There were plenty of photo opportunities. The tour was definitely the highlight of my trip. I would highly recommend Tasmanian private tours if you want to get the most out of your Tasmania trip!!

I have just had 4 wonderful days with Tasmanian Private Tours. John was absolutely marvelous. I use a walking stick but John still took me to places that I could enjoy and that I did. This is the absolute best way to see Tasmania and it was worth every cent. He picked me up in the morning on time and we just went everywhere too many places to list here but I have great memories and photos i honestly cannot thank John enough I would not have seen Tasmania as I did with John. PS and the food wow.

“Absolutely stunning tour of Mt Wellington and Hobart!”

This tour was the absolute highlight of my short stay in Hobart! It was completely fantastic! John quickly knew what I would find interesting and was keen to adapt the trip. Mt Wellington was breathtaking. It was blowing a gale, but John knew the sheltered spots to enjoy the views and experience. We stopped for lunch at the waterworks, with the beautiful mountain in the background and the food was great. Tasmanian Private Tours is the go to operator! I will certainly be booking another tour when next in Hobart.

If you want flexibility, professionalism, great food, local knowledge, unbelievable scenery and memories to last a lifetime, don’t look past Tasmanian Private Tours!

“A very pleasant food and wine tour!”

My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed the experience of a Richmond Food and Wine Tour with John. We began the tour by taking in the breathtaking views over Hobart from Mount Wellington and made our way back down through the historic suburbs of Battery Point, Sandy Bay and Salamanca - John's knowledge of Hobart is rich and insightful, with an entertaining twist (we enjoyed his humour throughout the day):) We really appreciated the interesting history that Richmond holds (a step back in time to early settlement days). Puddle Duck Vineyard had the best Sparkling, Coal River Farm had the tastiest local produce we've come across in a long time and we couldn't resist a few purchases after the superb wine tasting at Frogmore Creek. We still can't believe the flavour that local Hobart produce offers and we were certainly not disappointed when we stopped at Barilla Bay Oysters. We chose to have our oysters Kilpatrick - which wasn't a problem at all. We can't thank John enough; we felt so relaxed and the personalised tour option is something I would highly recommend over a larger coach tour for anyone! If you are thinking of visiting Hobart we would highly recommend that you book a tour with John, he is incredibly friendly, flexible and obliging (nothing was a problem). It was a wonderful way to experience so much! Thank you John:)

“Amazing tour of my beautiful Hobart!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed

This has become my favourite day of 2016. I was lucky enough to win a Facebook competition via Tasmanian Private Tours a few months ago... it is true, you can actually win these! Myself and my friend were picked up at 9am by a smiling John who took us to embark on a tour of Hobart and what a beautiful tour it was.

Some of our highlights of the day were:
- Mount Wellington for some wind swept photos
- Battery Point for a tour followed by a coffee and snack break at Jackman and Ross
- Barilla Bay for delicious kilpatrick oysters
- Richmond exploration (the must stop at the lolly shop)
- Delicious wine tasting at Pooley's, Puddleduck and Frogmore Creek
- Lunch and bubbles at Coal River Farm

Of course our absolute highlight was being picked up by the helicopter at Frogmore Creek! We flew over Richmond and Hobart and saw the most beautiful sights with the expert commentary from John and our pilot.

This is the perfect tour for anyone who wants to experience what visual and culinary delights Hobart has to offer.

John from Tasmanian Private Tours was professional, energetic, friendly and a true gentleman!

We honestly had the best day ever and believe this tour is a bargain for what you see and experience.

We look forward to actually booking one of John's other tours as gifts in the near future.

Thanks again John.

What a wonderful day. Cannot thank John enough for our wonderful trip to Mt Wellington, Richmond for a spot of shopping. Then onto Puddle Duck for a wonderful glass of bubbles and then to Coal River Farm for the best lamb lunch. Following lunch we went to Frogcreek for further wine tasting and one of the best Merlots around. On the way back to Hobart we stopped off at Barilla Bay for oyster tasting. All in all a wonderful day cannot thank you enough and will recommend you to anyone who goes to Hobart. So much nicer than a large bus tour. Thanks to Sharon for her lovely thought of the gift for our anniversary too made the day even more special.

Do yourself a favour and book a tour with this company they are wonderful.

John is enthusiastic, very flexible, entertaining and very knowledgeable about Tasmania. This private tour is the best on offer. The car/van is very comfortable and the destinations are fabulous. I wish this new business the best. They deserve it.

“Outstanding Service and Experience”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 week ago via mobile

I don't usually write reviews but I am compelled to do so now. I have travelled the world and can easily say that this tour rates as the best I have experienced.

We wanted to visit Ben Lomond Ski Resort for a day trip, I almost gave up looking because none of the major tour companies have tours in this area. Then I found Tasmanian Private Tours, I booked online and was contacted by John shortly after confirming the booking and he also made other suggestions of places to visit on the way that would suit my 10yo. I loved how John could identify places of interest for our family, places we would never have discovered on our own.

During the tour John's commentary was extremely informative and entertaining. The day had a casual and relaxed feel which was exactly what we wanted for our holiday. We were not restricted by a timetable, John was open for us to stay as long as we wanted at each stop which is the biggest benefit of taking a private tour.

John provided the perfect blend of professionalism, charisma and flexibility, his personalised service was outstanding. We enjoyed it so much we booked a second tour during our stay.

I have no hesitation in recommending Tasmanian Private Tours, I will definitely be booking another tour with them on my next Hobart trip.
